Retired but until last week, still working. I live alone. In touch with family but having recently moved to Newcastle, only have FB friends and it would be good to chat to other like minded people.
I like all the usual things - music, reading, walking, cinema, theatre, eating out and also learning. I like lively conversation and have an opinion on everything, according to the family so mostly happy to chat about anything!
Hi! I am way down in Brighton. I'm newly divorced and happy ready to get my life back and get out there - if only we could go outside ha! Using this time to sort my music collection I have written a list of all the things I've been putting off and tackling them one day at a time. Looking forward to seeing what anyone else is doing ?
My flat is small, so am uploading all my CD's to laptop. Trouble is, I keep stopping to listen to some of my golden oldies and making play lists so it's not a quick process! Same with my books - getting them on Kindle but cant let go of real books totally cos I love to read a book and turn the pages and put a bookmark in them!
Hi Anthony, writing a list is a good idea, will give it a go. Ive been using YouTube to do free exercise classes, yoga and my latest hobby - line dancing 😁
Hello Lynn. How are you? My name is Diane, I am keeping busy at the moment as my employer is still open and I am working every day, but I will be taking partial retirement in a couple of weeks so that will be a big change! I have two grown up children but I l live on my own with my old (but very spolit) black cat! Take care.
I love cats and was all set to get one when my bathroom flooded and I now have no bathroom floor - current situation has meant no workmen coming to inspect and repair it and it is not suitable for a cat. I have had cats all my life and I miss their presence as much as humans at the moment! I think semi-retirement is a good idea if you live alone, unless you have a broad spread of friends that are available - it is difficult when your friends are all married and they don't want to play in the week particularly!
I know what you mean about the company of a cat. My old cat died a few years ago, she had been with me for 15 years, I was heartbroken and I still miss her so much. I hope it won't be too long before you can get your bathroom sorted. Are you finding retirement difficult?
Hi Lynn, I'm Jo. Not far from you in Morpeth. I also live alone and am semi retired so happy to have a chat anytime
Hi I have been reading the posts. I have 2 very big tabby cats and a feral cat I have been feeding for years. I live on hayling island. I try to do a walk every day. I am finding it difficult, I am a widow and not knowing how long this is going to last it a bit scarey. I have a biggish garden but it’s been so cold it’s put me off doing much in the garden. A nicer day today as the cold wind has dropped. Have to try and get my fish pond fountain to work after the winter. Sometimes just wish I could pass the problems on to someone else.
Hi Lynn, I'm Carolyn. I live just north of Durham, so about 30 minutes from NCL, and I moved to this area about 6 years ago. I'm not retired yet and still working full time - luckily for a company that is letting me work from home. I have a small house and share it with 4 cats and 2 dogs - so they're loving this new 'work from home' routine. Meeting new people can be difficult when you move to a new area at our time of life, and this lockdown doesn't help, so happy to keep in touch. I've added a picture of my Romanian rescue dog Freddie and his best friend Jasper!
So nice to hear from you and to see the photos of your pets.. animals are my big passion in life and belong to many charities, especially supporting the bears in China and Vietnam who are kept in atrocious condition and ‘milked’ for their bile. I really hope the wet markets are shut down permanently. We need to live in a kinder world.
Just back from lockdown in New Zealand, can think of worse places,Retired but not bored yet, waiting to be able to visit my grandchildren in
